Introduction

Hello! My name is Sara Jones and I am from a small town in Preston County. I would like to teach first to third graders. Coming from a poor county with not much technology I have seen what a major disadvantage it gives you when you enter the "real world".

"According to Cathy N. Davidson, co-director of the annual MacArthur Foundation Digital Media and Learning Competitions, fully 65 percent of today's grade school kids may end up doing work that hasn't been invented yet" (Education Needs a Digital-Age Upgrade).

If schools do not keep up with technology how can they prepare these children for future jobs? Technology is not just Facebook and texting. In the classroom teachers could use digital movies to study history or use Google Earth when teaching geography. Also when teachers use technology they have a better chance of reaching students of all learning styles.

Here is an awesome blog about if teachers should be demoted just because they don't use technology in the classroom.

  1. Hey Sara,
I really like your title and how it ties in with your background and the point of Educ. 2201. Your blog looks great and you can definitely tell you took a lot of time to perfect it! :) Also, I agree with you on your picture of the little girl with the iPad, more children would love things like that with the bright colors. Much like your awesome background with the bright colored blocks.

  2. Hi Sara,
I think you did a really nice job matching your title to your very creative background. You also have some very informative blogs and videos that fit well with your blog.I know this wasn't a really long blog, but maybe try using a little more white space in your introduction. Just for practice of course, because it was really easy to read for me! It really is sad that different counties throughout the state receive different amounts of money for education. I believe it should be distributed equally, so every child (like the one in your blog) has a level playing field. Great job Sara! I would give you an A plus!

  3. Hi Sara,
I love your title it's very creative & relates to our class well. I also like your background & think it fits really well with being an Elementary Education teacher. Your video and picture are really cute. I like how your font is easy to read. I also come from a county that didn't use a lot of technology because we don't really have the funding. Overall I think you did a really good job!
